Analysis of RC Beams under Combined Torsion and Shear Using Optimization Techniques Evaluation of NBR 6118 and AASHTO LRFD Standards

In this article, a novel calculation procedure using optimization techniques is proposed to compute the torsion–shear interaction curves for reinforced concrete (RC) beams. The applied NBR 6118 and AASHTO LRFD standards in order evaluate their reliability. For this, some experimental results found literature related RC beams tested under combined torsion shear, as well from combined-action softened truss Model (CA-STM), are used comparison. From obtained results, provisions –be satisfactorily accurate. be consistent with when angle of struts assumed variable or equal lower bound value 30°, according model II standard. an 45°, I standard, predicted strengths excessively conservative. demonstrate that formulating analysis shear problem, constitutes alternative efficient option. addition, generality allows it any design standard
